Why it works

Why does talking make words stay?

If you ever type Dime Mas without the accent when you search, you are still looking for this set — sixty Spanish questions with English on every card.

Ellis, Tanaka and Yamazaki (1994) compared people who could stop and work the meaning out in conversation with people given a simplified script and no talking back. The conversation group understood more, and they kept more of the new words.

Understanding is not the same as speaking. Immersion classrooms showed children who could follow a lesson still stumbled when they had to produce the language themselves. Swain and Lapkin (1995) is a good place to start if you want the idea of that stretch — output, or pushed speech — not a slogan.

Questions

Do I need a partner who speaks Spanish?

No. English is on every card, so you can play with a partner, a friend who is also learning, or a language exchange.

Is it for beginners?

This set is written at B1–B2, for people who already understand more than they can say. A beginner set (A1–A2) is on the way.

Where do you deliver?

Buy direct and we post to the United Kingdom within two working days, for £4.62. On Amazon UK, delivery follows Amazon’s options for your address.

How long does a game last?

There’s no fixed length and no score to reach. Draw one card over a coffee, or play through a long dinner. You choose when to stop.

I grew up hearing Spanish at home but rarely speak it. Is it for me?

It could be a gentle way back in. The questions are written at B1–B2, with English beside each one, so you can check a word and keep going. Nobody is marking you. It’s a low-pressure way to use the Spanish you already understand.

Can I use it with a tutor or in a one-to-one lesson?

Yes. Draw a card and let it set the topic for the session. The English helps you both check the meaning, and the questions are open, so there’s plenty to say.

What people say

Fantastic card game. Full of questions to talk about and engage in a conversation in Spanish. Ideal for conversational lessons, language exchange groups and individuals who just want to speak Spanish. I highly recommend the game which is not just easy to play but also very compact to take with you anywhere.
